Asher Arthur Kornbluth, M.D. received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, New York. He went on to earn his internal medicine training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, where Dr. Kornbluth served as both resident and chief resident. He was also a gastroenterology fellow at Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center.
As an educator, Dr. Kornbluth teaches and lectures extensively throughout the United States as well as internationally. He is the founder and annual course director of the Mount Sinai IBD Consultants Course. Receiving many awards as an educator, including Teacher of the Year for six consecutive years, Dr. Kornbluth also serves as a mentor for visiting physicians from around the world.
Extensively published with more than 100 articles, abstracts, and book chapters to his credit, Dr. Kornbluth is the principal author of all three editions of “Ulcerative Colitis Practice Guidelines in Adults,” and principal author of the chapter on Crohn’s disease in the premier textbook of the field, the Sleisenger and Fordtran Textbook of Gastroenterology. As a practicing clinical gastroenterologist, Dr. Kornbluth is repeatedly included among America’s top gastroenterologists in the Best Doctors, Super Doctors and Top Doctors groups over the last 20 years.
