Sue Kornacki, M.D.

Dr. Sue Kornacki, who joined NYGA this summer, specializes in Gastrointestinal Pathology and Digestive Disease. She most recently was Director of Gastrointestinal Pathology AmeriPath Northeast. In her new position as Medical Director of the pathology laboratory at NYGA, she will be an integral member of medical staff. Dr Kornacki graduated from Georgetown University cum laude with a B.S. in Biology. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey and completed her internship at the University of Chicago. She did her pathology residency training at the UMDNJ, where she was chief resident. She subsequently completed a two-year fellowship in Gastrointestinal Pathology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her research interests have included dysplasia in inflammatory bowel disease and she is currently involved in a study of serrated adenomas.

Dr. Kornacki has held appointments in GI clinical and academic pathology departments during the past 17 years including: Associate Director, Gastrointestinal Pathology at Quest Diagnostics in Teterboro, New Jersey and Assistant professor of Pathology, New York University School of Medicine. For the past 10 years she has practiced exclusively GI pathology.

Dr. Kornacki has more than a decade of experience in subspecialty gastrointestinal pathology and an established reputation as a knowledgeable and interactive resource for interpretation and consultation on difficult cases. Her focus on optimal patient care fits perfectly with NYGA, and her familiarity with current practices and needs in clinical gastroenterology is certain to result in a great collaboration with the gastroenterologists; She is always available to answer patient questions or concerns regarding their pathology results and welcomes the opportunity to help in the care of all NYGA patients.
