Meet Our Anesthesiologists

Dr. Eaton grew up in New Jersey and attended Rutgers University where he graduated with Highest Honors in Engineering. He went on to medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. He completed an Internal Medicine internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and went on to Anesthesiology residency at Columbia University Medical Center where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Eaton’s clinical areas of interest are sedation for GI procedures, pediatric anesthesia, and regional anesthesia.
Dr. Friedman is a board certified Anesthesiologist and Internist. She received her medical degree in 1997 from the Technical University Munich, Germany. She subsequently completed internship and residency training in Internal Medicine in 2004 at the New York Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia Campus. She then went on to complete her Anesthesiology residency in 2006 at the New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Campus. Dr Friedman worked at Mount Sinai Medical Center as an Attending Anesthesiologist/Assistant Clinical Professor until December 2009.
Dr. Itzkovich grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biology from the University of Rochester. Dr. Itzkovich obtained his M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He completed an Internal Medicine internship at Staten Island University Hospital and returned to Mount Sinai for his Anesthesiology residency. Dr. Itzkovich’s clinical interests include sedation for GI procedures, bariatric anesthesia, and regional anesthesia.
Dr. Unger grew up in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Harvard College with his degree in engineering sciences. After college Dr. Unger worked for 2 years in Honduras designing and building water systems with the United States Peace Corps. He returned to the states to attend medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. His post-graduate training includes an intern year at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and then 3 years of residency in anesthesiology at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2006 Dr. Unger joined the faculty of Columbia University's Department of Anesthesiology. Among other duties, Dr. Unger was appointed Director of Anesthesia at Columbia's Allen Hospital. Dr. Unger is an active member of his professional societies, serving on committees at both the state and national level. He is a member of the Society of Ambulatory Anesthesia's (SAMBA's) Committee on Office Based Anesthesia and will be a panelist in a discussion on patient safety at the annual meeting in April 2010.
